With Monaghan for over 24 years, John's first 5 year stint covered all the warehouse and office functions and then sales representative before leaving in 1990 for Sandhurst and 5 years in the British Army. After completing an MBA at Cranfield, he returned in 1996 in a business development role before becoming MD in 1999. He is a main board director and shareholder of parent company, John Monaghan (Holdings) Ltd.
John is passionate about customer service and has a leaning towards the innovative use of technology to deliver outstanding results for customers. Designer of the i-slide anti-ligature pocket door system, John sees product development as a key differentiator in a highly competitive market.
Jon has worked in the construction supply industry for 25 years where his area of focus has always been doors and joinery. He has worked at Boulton & Paul, Jewson and Premdor and spent 13 years with Leaderflush Shapland being a sales leader during its most successful period. He has account managed the major UK main contractors and can operate from site to board level.
He joined Monaghan in January 2016 and, along with the MD, embarked on a journey of business transformation to create an innovative and unique doorset provider for architects, main contractors and sub-contractors.
Jon has a large bank of technical knowledge built up on solutions and performance requirements. He believes in bringing customers added value to their engagement and providing tangible differentiation to their competitors. He says that sales is about building customer commitment through consulting on specific wants and needs.
Chris joined Monaghan in 2002 as Technical Sales Manager. He was appointed as a Regional Director (Technical) in 2008 and was awarded Fellowship of the Institute of Architectural Ironmongers in 2012. His day-to-day duties include specification, estimating, internal sales and contract administration as well as technical support and troubleshooting. He is a former National Chairman, Institute of Architectural Ironmongers (1998-2000). He qualified in 1990 and has been fully engaged in CPD ever since. He has over 30 years experience in all aspects of hardware specification and distribution.
Ian joined Monaghan in 1997 as an estimator, contract co-ordinator and representative and was promoted to director in 2001. Since 2008, he has been a regional director at our Midlands office. His earlier career began when he joined a manufacturer as a commercial trainee in 1968. In 1976, he moved to an architectural ironmonger as Contract Co-ordinator where he stayed until 1990, changing branches in 1983 where he was also involved with estimating, sales account management and site visits. In 1990, he joined another growing architectural ironmonger as branch manager and was appointed director the following year.
Technical Sales Manager
Phil started as a director’s assistant in 1983 before moving into administration, warehouse, trade counter, delivery driver, buying and estimating. He joined Monaghan in 1992 as a sales representative before becoming Technical Sales Manager. Phil enjoys loyal support from customers in both architects’ practices and contractors and has particular experience in historic buildings and ecclesiastical projects.

Clive joined Monaghan 12 years ago as Technical Sales Manager. During this time, he has been involved in advising and specifying architectural ironmongery and doorsets with architects and specifiers across the northern region.
His role has also encompassed liaising with the construction companies involved during the procurement and build phases to give any assistance on product supply and on-site technical input.
Having gained the required specialised technical knowledge for the SCRIGNO disappearing door system, Clive has detailed these systems for large residential developments, one-off bespoke dwellings and boutique hotels. In conjunction with this, he has organised and delivered Professional CPD seminars to architects and specifiers on products.
He has also developed and established sales business with corporate clients to provide them agreed high quality and reliable supply of products to their building and shopfitting programmes.
Over the last year, he has focussed on the specialist product requirement of doorsets for the mental healthcare market and promoted the attributes of our i-slide anti-ligature doorsets which have been specially developed for this market.
Technical Sales Manager
Barny started working for us in 1996 as a warehouse assistant and progressed through to Warehouse Manager then Sales Co-ordinator/Representative. In 2010 he was appointed as the Area Sales Manager based in the South East of England where he also ran a small team/office.
He has worked on a wide range of projects including residentials, schools, offices and countless hotels - even on converted fishing dhows for honeymooners! With 20 years in the industry, he has the experience and knowledge to assist clients/architects/designers/contractors with the design and specification of ironmongery whatever their project.

Jon joined us in 1996 as a warehouse operative overseeing all aspects of contracts housing dispatch. After showing exceptional skills and gaining an outstanding knowledge of ironmongery, he moved into our internal sales department in 2003 where he went on to undertake his GAI studies. Jon is now a key member of our internal sales team focusing on housing contracts. Highly reliable and knowledgeable, Jon is a trusted pair of hands for the sales team and is asked for by name by customers.
Joining Monaghan in 2015, Mark is a fully qualified Registered Architectural Ironmonger who has been specifying, manufacturing and supplying doorsets and ironmongery for over a decade. He combines his expert knowledge in both fields to give the best possible ‘As1' solution for a project’s doorset and hardware needs. He is also responsible for our doorset estimating and technical function in addition to overseeing contract delivery.
Paula Carter joined Monaghan in 2016. She has over 10 years business administration experience and, prior to this Paula worked in the medical manufacturing industry where she gained significant experience working in both UK and export markets. She has a wealth of experience from initial enquiries to order management and contract planning. Highly reliable and diligent, Paula is a real professional and has a wide skill set.
Jenny joined Monaghan as Finance Manager in 2003. She is responsible for the financial administration of the business reporting directly to the Group Finance Director. Her responsibilities cover everything from credit control to management accounts. She is friendly, engaging and is well liked by customers, even after pressing them to pay their account!
